Rock Out Loud Launches the Intro to Music Program: Getting Into Music Has Never Been Easier

One of the greatest things a young person can do is to get into any kind of art form. And, in our case, we prefer it to be music. After all, what better way for a young enthusiast to express themselves than through music, right? Today’s topic is the Intro to Music program.

So, if you agree with this, then awesome! However, the moment a child and their parents decide to pursue to get into music, they usually stumble upon a new set of problems. There’s a very common issue among absolute beginners and it’s about choosing the right instrument.

You still have super-popular instruments like guitar or drums. However, many young aspiring musicians are struggling to make the right choice on where to start. Sure, they’d all like to start with several instruments at once, but that’s rarely ever a good idea for beginners. After all, the beginnings should be kept simple until a child sorts out the basics. But there’s already a lot of stuff to learn about one instrument and they’ll just stick to it most of the time.

Intro to Music: Helping Young Musicians Find Their Voice

With all this said, it seems that there aren’t any programs focused on this particular issue. Sure, music schools and independent music teachers already have their successful methods on how to teach kids to play instruments and are very effective at it. However, it seems that not many of them are thinking about what comes before that.

This is exactly why we at Rock Out Loud decided to come up with a specialized program that will focus on helping young music enthusiasts pick their instruments first. After all, finding your voice is extremely important.

Called Intro to Music, our program does exactly that. These days, we all know that we’re drowned with so many choices. Back in the day, you chose what was available or what parents can afford. However, these days, you have some pretty decent and cheap alternatives, which gives us an abundance of choices. As great as that is, it comes with its challenges.

    Furthermore…

    intro to music

What the Intro to Music program aims to do is to help kids choose the right instrument during a four-week course. We present the children with an abundance of choices straight away. However, we systematize it in such a way as to present all the main traits of each instrument.

And this is where things get interesting. A kid might be trying to decide between guitar and drums. But with this program, maybe they realize that the piano or vocals, for instance, are more of their thing. That’s the whole beauty of such a program.

During these four weeks of the Intro to Music program, young aspiring musicians get the chance to work on different instruments with different teachers. During each rotation, they’ll get the chance not only to familiarize themselves with the instrument but also actually play it.

In particular, we’re teaching piano, bass, guitar, and drums. Each class is 45 minutes long and mostly focuses on teaching actual songs. As mentioned, the whole program lasts for four weeks. And once it’s done, they get one completely free-of-charge lesson on one of these instruments, which will be their choice.

This hands-on approach is crucial. And this is something that we practice in all of our educational programs. In addition, we care about the music that children enjoy listening to. This has proven to be the best possible way to get them into music.

It’s All About Fun and Engagement

For many years now, we’ve seen the conventional music education approach showing some of its counterproductive sides. But that’s not much of a surprise. As music and technology change, so should education. Things cannot remain the same, especially not in music.

Here at Rock Out Loud, we are constantly trying to innovate. Firstly, we dedicate our efforts to making music lessons enjoyable. Don’t get us wrong, hard work and practice are still required. But why not help children work on music that they love? In our experience, this approach kept them interested in the instrument. After all, isn’t it better to teach them rock songs instead of nursery rhymes?

Hands-On Approach Gets Them Ready for Real-Life Settings

But it’s not all just about fun and games. This is just an effective approach to keep them practicing and getting more into the wonderful world of music. The ultimate goal is to teach them to become actual musicians. Whether they become professionals, semi-pros, or hobbyists, they’ll know how to reproduce and even create their own music.

So all of our programs always focus on one thing. And that’s working in the actual studio environment. Aside from teaching them music theory and playing their instruments, we also set some time aside to teach them about working in DAWs (digital audio workstations). This also includes the recording process and some of the most common practices while recording modern music.

Fortunately for young students and everyone involved in their educational process, there are plenty of free DAWs. You can read more about that at this location. But, above all, teaching them how to use these tools in the context of modern music also gives them practical skills that they can use on their own. And isn’t that the whole point of getting into music in the first place?

There are plenty of ways for young musicians, or music teachers, to make their home studios. There are a few budget levels for everyone’s needs, and you can check that out over here.

But what’s important to note is that it’s possible to make your own music from the comfort of your home. And this all starts with the first step, which is to find your voice and choose an instrument. That’s exactly what Intro to Music will teach you.
